Medical Equipment Loan Program
Belmont Council on Aging's medical Equipment Loan Program serves about 45 families per year, distributing donated medical equipment for short-term or long-term use. If in stock, equipment is available to anyone who needs it. To ask about donating or borrowing equipment, please call 617-993-2989.

If you have a partner with Parkinson's, they may have many sources of support, including you!.... But where is the support for you? Do you want to learn more about loss and grief? This informational session will explore various forms of loss and grief, define what is normal, and suggest coping strategies. The presentation will include useful handouts, an opportunity for questions and discussion, and a quiet meditation. The presenter, Anne Marie Mahoney, has offered bereavement programs at the Beech Street Center as well as area churches. Cost: Free.

What was her name? “Where are my keys? Why did I come into the kitchen? Memory glitches are common as we age. Come learn some compensatory strategies to boost your memory. Attend a 4-session course to learn about memory, reduce tip of the tongue moments, understand your learning style, and build better memory habits. This free program will be offered beginning in May and will require a minimum of 10 participants to run. Contact Lynn at 617-993-2994 for more information and to sign up.

Reminiscing about the past can make the present more meaningful. Join your peers to reflect on times gone by. We’ll talk about personal experiences as well as changes that have occurred across the course of our lives. Changes in landscape, education, technology, entertainment, medicine, politics and more! In the best of circumstances, our golden years are graced with increased wisdom, financial stability, recreation and good company. In reality, getting older is often marked by many age-related losses – of health, of independence, of social connections & of dreams. Join your peers to discuss these challenges and the ways you cope with them. Feeling less alone with these challenges is the first step in managing the feelings that accompany them.
